Skincare Benefits of Glycerin

We’ve made it to the home stretch of the Hydrating Hand Sanitizer ingredient series! Last, but not least on our list of moisturizing ingredients is glycerin.

What is glycerin?

Glycerin is so popular in skincare that it’s the third most common ingredient, following water and scents. It’s a classic moisturizing agent derived from plants and is a colorless, odorless liquid. It’s basic properties have been known to accelerate wound-healing processes, boost skin barrier properties, and treat skin disorders, such as eczema.

Is glycerin good for your skin?

Yes! Like hyaluronic acid, glycerin is also a humectant. It attracts moisture from the environment and traps it in the outer layer of the skin. Along with hydration, glycerin contains anti-aging properties that preserve smooth skin and helps keep it firm. You may also identify it as glycerol in product ingredient lists, most often in moisturizers and lotions. Glycerin is safe to use at any point of the day, in any step of your beauty routine.
